The 2026 Australian Open Indoor Skydiving Championships (AOISC) is officially the largest indoor skydiving competition in Australian history!
The biggest windtunnel in the Southern Hemisphere, iFly Sydney, will again host the AOISC with 127 Teams across 18 categories covering Formation Skydiving (FS), Dynamic, Speed, Freestyle, Body Piloting Championships & Indoor Para Skydiving (IPS).
For the second year running Sydney becomes the second last stop on the seven official stage IPS World Series, with results counting towards international rankings while also deciding the Australian National Champion.
The IPS competition also attracts international competitors and officials to the annual event. Athletes from afar include 2025 IPS World Series Champion Cyril Moré from France, 2026 World Cup & European Champion Niko Johann from Germany, and 2026 IPS Stage 5 Winner Paulloup de Coninck from France. International IPS Judging Officials Eric Mollaret & IPS Founder Jérome David will be onsite recording race results and any new records set.
2025 IPS Australian Champion Heath Lehr will be defending a hotly contested National title against fellow aussies, including two iFly All Abilities Ambassadors with the home tunnel advantage, Greg Pinson and Tom Kennedy.
Germany’s Niko Johann will be looking to better his combined FAI World & European Speed Records, while Australia’s Chris Astill expects to see his recent FAI Oceania Speed Record obliterated by his fellow countrymen.
Since 2025, Ådaptive Athlete Åcademy have partnered with Body Piloting Champion & iFly Instructor Doni Gales to run fortnightly IPS Tunnel Camps structured to prepare and train Indoor Para Skydivers for competition.
As of May 2025, Indoor Para Skydiving (formerly Handifly) is a discipline of the Indoor Skydiving Commission (ISC), & first official para sport discipline of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). The FAI is an International Sports Federation recognised since 1986 by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Indoor Para Skydiving classification system was designed from inception to enable everyone, of any ability, to compete in one division, all together. This revolutionary approach has been repeatedly validated over time around the globe at multiple competitions by inviting world champions, kids and adaptive athletes to race against each other, with times adjusted via individual co-effecients assigned by an expert classification panel.

AOISC competitors have access to the competitors lounge, kitchen and shower facilities, and are treated to free rental equipment, catered breakfasts & lunches, onsite sauna, compression boots, stretching areas, local gym access, photo opportunities, and awards presentation with dinner and drinks.

2026 Indoor Para Skydiving World Cup
2026 saw 17 IPS competitors representing 9 countries at the first ISC World Cup & ISC European World Cup at Weembi in France, supported locally by the Australian Parachuting Federation (APF) in issuing the first international competition licence to an IPS competitor in order to represent Australia at the 6th FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving.
